Welcome to the Keys in Color gesture drawing course. If you want to learn how to draw anything, the first step is to loosen up! This course will teach you various techniques to start gesture drawings focusing on the female figure. You will leave this course with skills on how to draw the female body loosely, which will help you tremendously if you wish to enhance your skills in loose watercolor painting or fashion illustration.
This is the first step to gaining confidence on the paper. You will no longer have the fear of approaching a black sheet thinking "Where do I start?"
PS. I would love to see your drawings after you've finished the course! Please upload your favorite illustration to Facebook or Instagram tagging me using the handle @keysincolor
I'm Kris Keys, an American fashion illustrator and textile designer now based in London, England. I specialize in fluid mediums of watercolor and ink drawings gaining inspiration from women throughout the world. I credit my style of painting to the places I've lived and traveled along my journey. I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee where I credit my vibrant yet gritty style of painting. I moved to New York and worked in visual merchandising in 2008. That's also the year that I fell in love with fashion illustration. I took a course at the Fashion Institute of Technology to perfect my style and moved to London in 2011 to pursue womenswear design. I've illustrated for beauty campaigns, in store visuals, stationary, web designs, and prints throughout my career. Since moving to London, I've illustrated with brands such as NARS Cosmetics, Highline Park New York, Spectrum Cosmetics, and WGSN to name a few.
